And here is the manicure :)
I know it is spring now, but this just what my mood was like.

BYS Cracked Polish, Update

Hi guys! Sorry for the small impromptu holiday I'm taking from the blog - I just had a bit of a meltdown on the weekend and now I'm working through school holidays in retail hell. 'Nuff said!

Anyhoo - this just hit my inbox -

Arrrgh! How exciting! You've probably gathered by now that I'm not much for nail art, but this looks fun, and how awesome is it that an Aussie company is doing it! *bounces*

BYS is hitting it out of the ballpark this year, I'm telling you! I don't know who is doing their colour selection, range ideas, etc - but they are doing an AWESOME job and obviously have their eyes on the international trends. Nail art, their matte range, neons, pastels, glitter - all fantastic and cheap!
Now if only they could do Holographics...(hint, hint!).

Looks like the Cracked range is retailing for about $11.95 at all the usual places like discount shops, K-mart and Fashion Addict.

You Really Turn Me On

Today's manicure is another nerdy manicure. :-P They were inspired by the power button on your computer, monitor, XBOX, TV, etc. Silly, I know, but I like doing nerdy designs. Plus, I have been on the XBOX waaaaay too much lately. I watched the entire five seasons of Weeds on streaming Netflix in a matter of days. Yeah, I don't half-ass stuff, I go ALL out. :-D I call it dedication, others call it sad. :)

I used China Glaze Millennium as a base, and I have to say, as much as I love and rave about this color for nail art and Konading, I do NOT like it as an all-over color on me. For the On symbols, I used China Glaze Millennium mixed with American Apparel Hassid. Topped it off with Seche Vite top coat.

What a turn-on.

Ch-Ch-Chain of Fools

Today's nails were inspired by the obvious... chains. :-D My friend at work said I should've done whips on the other hand and gone with a whole bondage theme. :-P I've have this idea milling about in my head for a while now, and finally decided to do it. Originally in my brain, it was more complex, with shading and depth and whatnot, but once I laid down the initial shapes, I liked it simple and graphic, so I left it. :) (hope you like it too!!)

I used American Apparel Hassid as a base, with China Glaze Millennium for the silver chains, and China Glaze 2030 for the gold. :) Topped it all off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat, because I wouldn't want the chains to break, right?!

So in closing, I feel the need to add this.... because it kept coming up when I was trying to think of titles for this post....

You ARE the Weakest Link.... Goodbye! :-P

(p.s. none of you are weak links, I just found this amusing :-P )

Flight of the Bumblebee

Fun fact of the day: Melissa means bee/honey. It comes from Greek mythology, where Melissa was a nymph who discovered honey and its uses, and fed Zeus honey when he was a baby instead of milk. Crazy, eh? Today's nails are inspired by my name! :)

I used Orly Snowcone as a base, with American Apparel Hassid for the flight path, and for the black outlines/stripes of the bee, American Apparel Manila for the body of the bee, and a mix of American Apparel Cotton and American Apparel Mount Royal for the wings. Topped it off with only one coat of Seche Vite top coat, as I was running low on time.

Where do you think the bee is heading to?

Maybe to see his 'honey'? haha!

Very busy , but beautiful Nails

Hello my Sweet Nail-art lovers.
This nail design that i am posting today is kind of busy looking, a lot is going on on those tiny nails. It actually started as just a diagonal stripes of different shades of purple. When i decided to add a little gold, and when some stamp on the edge, and more stamp and the rhinestones.
I hope you ll like, because i am really thrilled with the result, even thought the design came to me really spontaneous.

It's like But-tah

Today's nails were inspired by the fact that I wanted to use my new butterLONDON polish in Rosie Lee. :-D I'm usually not a pink girl, but I this is a very purty glitter. :-P Adding the halftone dots make it less girly, right?! RIGHT?! I just finished Season 3 of Weeds on Netflix Instant Queue or whatever its called when I watch it through my XBOX. That makes 3 seasons in less than a week. I think I may have a problem. Or drink too many caffeinated beverages, not sure.

I used butterLONDON Rosie Lee as a base, with American Apparel Peacock applied with Konad Plate m60. Topped off with two coats of Seche Vite top coat.

That's Just Grey-t

Hey there kids!! (Don't worry, I call everyone kid, regardless of their years) So the Bad Religion concert las night was PUNK-tastic. I had a blast, and got a rad t-shirt that earns me dirty looks when I wear it. (Google Bad Religion images, you'll see why) Today was a busy day- I went and tried on (and bought) the bridesmaid dress for the wedding I'm going to be in in May, and it was surprisingly VERY flattering. (the color will be a different story- Guava is not a color that should be in a redhead's vocabulary. (or wardrobe). After that, I helped a good friend paint his bedroom- Ground Cumin is the color, and it turned out fantastic. He was smart not to question my interior design skills. :-P I love picking out paint colors for people, perhaps one day I'll have my own house and can do it for myself!! I managed to squeeze in a nap in there, which was great, too.

Today's nails are simple, but I really like them, and despite the beginning of my experience with butterLondon (took 5.5 weeks to get my polishes due to Paypal marking the order as complete, and no one returned emails from BL), I am 100% in love with the one polish I've tried out of the 3 I bought... Billy No Mates! It applied smoothly, and only took 2 coats to be opaque.

I used 2 coats of butterLONDON Billy No Mates as base, with 1 coat of Essie Matte About You, then for the moons, I used about 8,000 coats of Urban Outfitters Grey 1, it was pretty hard to get opaque and even. For the ring finger moon, I used American Apparel Berry. I also used American Apparel Berry for the 'stitching' on the grey moon fingers, and Urban Outfitters Grey 1 for the stitching on the ring finger.

How is everyone's weekend going? I get to wake up early for class, blargh. :-D My weekend off last week because of Spring Break felt nice. :)

Weekend Funnies

What. A. Week. Is there anyone out there who doesn't want to give March an emphatic middle finger salute as it dies?
Didn't think so.
Here's some stuff to make the pain go away for awhile...

Whales - the Eeyores of the deep...

Caaarrrl!

There's a million Lady Gaga parodies out at the mo, but this is very well done and has some great lines -

Have a good weekend!

Dukes of 'Hazard'

ACK! People are sick here at work, everywhere I turn, *cough* *HACK* *sniff*. Gross. Major gross. They inspired today's nails... the Biohazard symbol. :) I really hope that I don't get sick, that is about the last thing I need right now. :-/ On the bright side, going to a Bad Religion concert tonight- woo! :)

I used Electric Orange as a base, with American Apparel Hassid. Sealed the deal with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat.

Put your dukes up!

Surprisingly Orange Nail Art

Hello my Sweet Nail-art lovers.
I am not kidding today calling this design "Surprisingly" Orange.
Originally flowers were painted in red and white, but after i put on the top coat white paint turned yellow. That was super wired, it nether happened before with this paint. And i used different top coats, so it was not a top coat issue. So wile color changing is a misery, i think i even like it better this way. I really like the design, and looks really bright and summer like.

I Ain't No Ho-Ho!

:-D ok, I'll admit, today's title cracks me up. I'm SUCH a dork.

The inspiration for today's nails came a few months ago via email from Niki C., of Polish on Digital Paper fame, and while I've gotten inspiration from other designs people have sent in before, (with permission, of course ;)) I usually don't copy them stroke for stroke... These however, were too awesome not to, I loved their quirky simplicity. Thanks Niki, you rock! :)

I used MAC Showy as a base (can't find it for sale), then used my white Migi Nail Art Pen for the frosting swirl. Topped it all off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat to simulate the tasty glossy chocolate frosting. Oh damn, I know what I'm going to buy at lunch. *drool*

Anybody got any milk?!

China Glaze - Peachy Keen

Hello my sweet Nail-Art Lovers.
The moment i saw this polish on the promo pictures, even before the colelction was relesed, i knew that i get to have this color. So i finally recently got it and sharing pics with you today.
I know i can play it out with much more fun, and i will, i promise, it is just that super busy those days.

Fit As a Fiddle

Today's manicure was inspired by violins/fiddles/guitars, etc. I came up with the technique of layering several colors, and then using a big fluffy brush that was wet with acetone and brushing lightly, until the colors from underneath started to show. I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out, it gave the effect of aged, varnished wood, which is precisely what I was going for. :-P I'll probably try this again at some point with crazier colors.

I used 2 coats of American Apparel Manila as a base, then 2 coats of American Apparel Pinto, then two coats of Sally Hansen Leather Frost, which I got at the Dollar Tree. Topped this off with 1 coat of Seche Vite top coat, let it dry, then proceeded to brush off the color with the acetone remover. For the F holes, I used American Apparel Hassid. Topped everything off with Seche Vite top coat.

GOSH Golden Dragon

I've had pics of this one sitting in my computer for aaaagges and forgot I had them! Jacie did a post on an Elianto polish kind of similar (but I don't think it's a dupe) which jogged my memory - so here they are!

This was sent to me by the lovely Helen from Nice Things in a swap way back last year :) I saw pics of this on other people's blogs and knew that if I had one green - this had to be it! Of course I now have quite a wide selection of greens, but at the time this was a HUGE lemming of mine. Thanks Helen!

This would be my fave green ever, if not for Nubar's "Earth" which has a fabulous formula. I may, however, re-evaluate after I try this with some Poshe Revive in it. The first time I used this the formula was quite thick and gluggy. I has some application problems and I don't think having Orly Nail Rescue (which I've since stopped using cos removing it with acetone was causing real problems with my skin) underneath helped much either.
I didn't have any polish thinner at the time, so I had to put up with it. Hopefully it will behave better next time with some drops in it.

So please ignore the crappy application, and feast your eyes on the luxuriant emerald/gold/blue goodness...

It has a very, very, very fine grainy/foily texture - a kind of creamy metallic, if you get my drift. I think you can actually see a bit of allergic flush on my pinkie cuticles where the acetone was making itself known, sorry...

Ah, look at my nails! Memories! I've recently chopped them back to almost-nubbins cos they were starting to break badly, one by one. Back to the drawing board...

Can you see the veins of gold and blue? So pretty! I love, love, love the colour of this - if I can just get the formula to behave, I'll be a happy camper.

Now a little hint for any Melbourne girls out there - I found GOSH polishes being sold in Zuza! They didn't have Golden Dragon when I was at the Melbourne Central store, but that was about 6 months ago, so you never know...
I notice Zuza has a website with an online store, but it doesn't sell nail polish so you will have to make a personal appearance.

If I remember rightly they were going for $14.95 each and were in a huge vase, which would require you sticking your entire arm in to get to the polish you wanted at the bottom. I was sure hilarity and possible life threatening injuries would ensue if I tried to get one out, so I just looked and left the pretties alone :) Happy hunting!

MWCILTRMND MONDAY!

It's baaack!
Today we have my favourite combination - hotness and humour, embodied in Ryan Reynolds...

Looks are all well and good, but when you've got a guy who makes you laugh - that's when you've hit paydirt :) Scarlett Johansson is one lucky, lucky girl...

Just look at the guns on him!

"Ohmigaaawd! Look at lose abs! Those arms! Those- eh? What do you mean? What axe? What creepy beard?"

Yeah. Total wish fulfillment...

Going for a stroll with this guy may be hazardous to your sanity.

These would have to be the best magazine covers ever!

The only way I'd ever even think about seeing a remake of "The Life Of Brian" is if this guy played one of the Romans. Toga! Toga! Toga!

Pretty Pedi

Hello my dear Nail-art lovers.
Today is a pedicure post, because my finger nails are still busy with the pretty classy stamping design from he previous post.
By the way, answering all the questions about the rings, i got row rings from e-bay sellers, it called resin rings - you can get like 50 of it for 10-15 bucks. I got 2 different styles - 50 count of each, and simply paint them to match my nail art.
And here is today pedicure .I only have 1 picture that turned out well, and i honestly don't know why my tow nails are different size - they are just always like this ,one is just bigger i guess, or grow faster :) Weird.

Konando-Set + Announcement

Hello my sweet Nail-Art Lovers!
Today i am posting a beautiful Nail+ring set that i made with Konad Stamps. I just as up for the bolder look, that is why used Konad. I still believe that nothing beats Konad, this is the only way to achieve this really polished and professional look.
About this set, most people, especially strangers, asked if i painted my nails after the ring :) So they think that the ring was first :) But actually who knows what goes first - nails or ring lol , the reality is that Koand work perfect to create awesome nail-rings sets.
And i also would like to tell you that i am going to have a give way some time next week, nothing too excited, but you d better stay tuned, and not to miss it.

Weekend Funnies

More from the sassiest of them all. I wrote an essay in High School English Lit expressing much the same sentiments as this...

Boomboxes are not to be taken lightly! A cautionary tale of bass gone bad (NSFW)...

I hardly watch any "reality" TV, but I do enjoy Kitchen Nightmares for some odd reason. Even if most eps do seem to end like this -

And this is especially for Kaz -

Nails and ring set

Here is another ring-nails set that i came up with recently.
It looks a little more like winter rather then spring, but i still like it.
I sponged the light green transparent ring with the same zoya nail polish that used as a base coat for my nails. I was trying to make keep the ring semi transparent, but it did not turned really great, and a ring is nos as bright and even as nails, but however i am really pleased with the drawing on the ring.
I really love to make nails-ring sets - i think all together it looks fantastic, and catch lots of attention. Everybody are asking me where did get this service. lol

St Patrick nails vol. 2

So here is the second green manicure that i promised you yesterday. Here i used different shades of green then in previous Mani. I like those shades better.
Also i decided to update my blog design to something spring looking. So the green design is not about St. Patrick day, but however represent a spring and dreams about summer.
Check out my new header - this is actually first time i don't have a nails or manicures on my header, but i think i came up with the pretty creative one ,and crazy as well.
It suppose to look like the grace is draining out of the nail polish bottle, and form the grace island that host the tron. And the nails polish bottle is actually located on this tron... I know this is crazy... but do YOU like it?

St. Patrick Nail Marathon

Well may be not really Marathon, but i have 2 green manicures for you this year, one for today and one for tomorrow. I finally remembered about this holiday, this is my first year to remember :)
That was a pleasure to make this manicure, because i recently realized that i have a quite broad selection of different shades of green in my Nail polish collection.
So, on this particular manicure i created extra dimension effect with the additional layering holo green stamp underneath the leave. That was quite hard to capture on the pics, but it actually turned out interesting and playful.

Nubar Petunia Sparkles

So the drama with my pic used on (Aussie) ebay continues! I got an obnoxious email from the seller this morning telling me that I shouldn't put my pics on Google if I don't want people to use them! Can you believe that? Someone failed at the intarwebs...

They took the pic down anyway and put a completely different looking polish up in it's place without changing the description! It looks nothing like my pic - I actually did them a favour! I can imagine the bad customer feedback if they'd bought the polish on the strength of my pic, only find out it looks nothing like that.

I really, really, really want to send them back a note replying to the utter idiocy, but it would just end up in a slanging match and I don't need that.
So anyway, don't buy blue Chi Chi polish on ebay - the seller's an ass-canoe.

Sigh. Calm blue ocean, calm blue ocean, calm blue ocean....
From now on - no warnings. I'm just reporting anyone stealing my pics straight to ebay. Rip their auction right off the 'bay. See how they like them apples...

Anyway, this is Nubar Petunia Sparkles - a lovely, lovely pink glitter that applies like a bitch. An ebay bitch...

As you can see - thanks to said bitch I'm now watermarking all my photos. Bitch.

This is 3 coats, and it goes on kinda matte. Like a bitch. You will need topcoat, and lots of it.

Even 3 coats of Diamont couldn't get this sucker smooth, but it's so lovely and sparkly, I don't really care, bitch.

The formula is as gluggy as a bogan bitch hearing the Last Call at a pub. Like many others I had difficulty with the glitter clumping and creating little holes. I ended up just kind of globbing it on and doing a big clean-up after it dried.

But the effort is sooo worth it! BTW - it might appear purple here, but it's just my stupid bitch of a camera. It always looks pink IRL.

So there you go. Bitches.
I'm gonna go eat a kitten or something.
