Halloween Manicure 2

Hello my Sweet Nail Art Lovers
Just a quick post to share my halloween manicure i made for last nights party and tonights candy hand out. I wish all of you a Happy Halloween :)

Notd: Halloween Nailart (Part 1)

Today part one of my halloween nailart, I made a second design on my nails, so that one comes online this week in part 2!

I used Essence - Fruit Punch (From the Return to Paradise collection) as my basecolour. This is a beautiful orange shimmer polish! For more info read this article!

This is my halloweennailart, you can see a little pic of my thumbnail in it, but I'm going to show that one below. Alright here you can see my index with a dead rose with blood drops, middlefinger: Scary face, Ringfinger: Halloween decal with a kitty out of a pumpkin and my pinkie: the halloweenstamp from the halloweenplate by Konad.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (Love that movie!).

Here you can see my thumb, this is a little Jack Skeleton from the movie: The Nightmare before Christmas (Love that movie!) I liked this one the most. Further I didn't like the nailart all together, so I removed it after a few days and decided to make another halloween nailart!

Happy Halloween!

China Glaze-Zombie Zest

To start off today's post I'd like to apologize. Sorry I've been neglecting the blog lately, I've been fairly busy. But because tomorrow is Halloween, I recently used one of my polishes from the China Glaze Awakening collection and this one is Zombie Zest!
This colour is darker in the bottle than it is on the nail.

See? Much lighter now!

Anyways, sorry again for the absence, but I'm back and will probably post again tomorrow for Halloween!
Feel free to leave a comment below telling me how you are doing your nails for Halloween.

foil glue and pigments

i got 2 great questions today....

1. Where do you get foil glue? is that the name of it? I've been to my beauty supply store and they don't have it, I even tried looking on ebay and nothing.
2. The pigments you talk about on your video, is that eyeshadow pigments? will the foil glue work with glitter?

(to question number 1)--i get my foil glue on ebay, but i live in a very small town. i know that wherever they sell nail art foil (that comes in long strips) they will have the adhesive. also, you can go to a craftstore and ask an attendant if they have a glue that dries and stays tacky....... i have found one once from a craft store but i dont remember the name. when i do, i will certainly put it out there.....

(to question number 2) yes!!!!!!!!!!!! what i want to do is show girls how to use their eyeshadow for their nail polish and have them match perfectly.....when you topcoat pigments, they shrink. the more metal in the pigment, the more cracking..........HOWEVER....if you apply it sparingly and then wait and allow the design to "relax" it goes back to normal...if you have glitter caked on, it turns into a big old mess, thats why your glue has to be really thin and very dry...just a very thin layers that wont "bunch up"....and YES.. you can use glitter!!!! what i would do though..is test each one out...put the glue and topcoat on yourself and see how they act before using it on a client...some pigments just dont work well, however...the ones that DO ...are stunning and worth the effort.

if you cannot find the foil glue.......while the nail is a tiny bit tacky you can sweep some pigment on...just so your nails match...you can also use water......but you cant get too concentrated of a pigment or it really bunches up.......

and lastly........but not least........is if you cannot find anything.........your pigments just arent working...........and you want to learn another way.....i am going to show you how to do all of this stuff with almost the same results with paint......BUT

RIGHT NOW........(JUST RIGHT NOW  HAHAHAAHAHAH) i am in love with pigments......99% of my art is with paint....i just happened to start doing tutorials as i experimented with pigments.....so, i only have 20 videos up right now.....but i will have 100's.. maybe 1000's and i will have SO many techniques to show you guys how to get certain effects....

so, good luck on finding glue! good luck with working with pigments (it sounds way scarier than what it really is......the cracking is minor, i just dont want you to scream when it happens!!!) hahahahahahah and i hope this answers everything! have a wonderful day!!!!

Brilliant with Diamond Powder - Nr 02

This is the second polish from the Brilliant with Diamond Powder collection from the Hema! (Look here for number one!)

This pic is made inside with flash. I really don't know how I can describe this colour perfectly, but I think it's like an old pink colour. This pic is almost perfect colourate! You can see shimmer in this polish, pink and silver shimmer!

This pic is made outside without flash in sunlight. Look how strange! The colour turns out brown here! But the polish is in real life more like the first picture, but I really wanted to show you this 'sun' pic. Application is really good, I've got this result after only two layers, so I don't have any complaints about this polish!

Are there more ladies who love this collection?

Ruby Pumps with quick Nailart

A while ago I showed you a Notd with China Glaze - Ruby Pumps. Last week I had a fun night with my friend, so we both had Ruby Pumps on our nails! To spice it a little up I made a quick nailart on one of my nails.

To spice up your minds; Ruby Pumps! (For more read this article).

This is the nailart from the left side seen. I only had one brush and a white polish, so it's nothing special. In the corner you can see a little flower, further I spiced it up with some curls and dots.

Here you can see the other curls and dots, do you see those awesome glitters in this polish? Oh it doesn't look so good anymore, these pics are made after 4 days of wearing (And I only made them for one night out! ;))

what is a blog for? questions and answers part 1. polish choices.

HI, I HAVE LOTS OF NEW VIDEOS UP FOR HALLOWEEN!!!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/user/robinmosesnailart
http://www.facebook.com/RobinMosesArt

i have youtubes on youtube
i have networks and friends on facebook
so, why repost whats been said already?

here is where i will take questions and share little tips of information i suppose. i get tons of questions and i answer them and they scroll away and then the answer is lost...here, i can document some semblance of order, albeit rough..........it will be more orderly than a live scroll.

hopefully when i go viral i will have a secretary to keep me orderly..that would be fantastic...everyone help me achieve that.

question one: "Hey do you have any suggestions for brands of nail polish? Oh and what size is that brush? Your work is incredible!"

here is my personal opinion...every single person has a different one.
on natural nails)...if you use white distilled vinegar and dry it in a light before you polish...your polish lasts longer because it takes the oil out of your nail bed....acetone also takes out some oil....so does creative nail/scrubfresh....all good primers. prime them and make them all chalky white before you paint them and they wont chip as much. if they are all shiney and pink...they will chip up and look a mess.

basecoats are useless unless your nail polish stains and hardly any do...i can think of ONE....CLAIRES makes this ugly purple that stains. (but, i use acrylic...i dont like doing natural nails...i bet people with natural nails will go on and on in disagreement about staining but i dont know natural nails, i PAINT on false nails.......i put the false nails on so that my paintings last longer....so, i am not a good 'natural nail' manicurist to talk to, however, i do paint them and this is what has worked for me without a 50 dollar answer.

TWO thin coats of polish SHOULD cover..if you need more...throw the polish away because its sucky.

to me, cheaper is better. i love wet and wild. you can mix them easily into more exotic colors..the brushes are usually managable...they dry quick and if you leave one open...no biggie....you buy another one because its not 20 bucks. i go through about 10 bottles a week. i mix them all of the time. if you want to be creative...go to walmart in the art section and get a color wheel... then youtube how to use one and mix all of the colors you want using wet and wild colors..its cheaper, its more fun and you get the color you love most.

"but robin, dont you like OPI"

i have found that OPI takes forever to dry....they make stunning colors....but i am mixing and matching and painting OVER the color anyway, so i dont really benefit much from subtle different shades......i benefit from good brushes.......OPI is for the natural nail manicurist and the manicurist who follows the trends that the company tells them to follow.......i love trends..i follow some...but i dont NEED OPI to get an OPI look...........

for me.......my secret?..............the secret to great polish is: a great top coat.

i use pro-finish GOLD uv topcoat. i have for a billion years..it doesnt fail me. i am addicted to its smell like a crackhead. i need it to feel 'finished' with a design.----it is what i PAY FOR ....it is expensive but it seals my art and lasts without chipping.

(ALERT:!!! ALTHOUGH!!!)------i have heard that gel topcoats are great and i ordered some recently from hong kong....i will keep you posted!

i try out new things all of the time.....and nothing comes close to my top coat...i dont like the idea of having to file off a topcoat...however, if a gel topcoat doesnt chemically react to pigments, i will definitely make a minor switch. if i do, i will surely say so in my tutorials!

there are my questions for today. i know what i say is probably exactly the opposite of what everyone else says, but i dont read what everyone else says ever...i just practice and find what works for me so that my nails are FIERCE....and i dont settle for "eh"..........ever.

PART 2: the size of my brush

i have many brushes...i choose length and how pliable the hairs are..i prefer sable but sometimes i get a great synthetic so i dont have a 'favorite' i like dental brushes..i try and buy dental brushes in bulk ranging from size 1-4.....i use the 4's for my acrylic and my 1-3's for paint.....however, i alter my brushes by cutting them down to fit my needs. i  will make a tutorial for that, but for now, i cannot get a camera angle good enough to do an effective job..i will though..i am new, but i dont want people messing up brushes because i have a bad video....id go 0 or 00 for now and dont get a short one..they are stumpy and more for dot making.....get longer hairs....but not exceptionally long....id say..somewhere in the mid-range length, smallest width possible....that is a good start! :) thank you for asking and i hope i answered everything as thoroughly as possible! xoxoxox

Halloween Couple costumes

Hello My Sweet Nail-Art Lovers
Here is our this year so called "halloween couples costume" - my nails + husbands toes :)
The story behind is that he liked the spider so much that asked me to do his toes for him .
Yes he really likes his toes to be polished, and i polish his toes dark color every winter - when nobody can see it. Our little secret and his little guilty pleasure :)
By the way i got the idea of this manicure from one of the acrylic designs posted by Amy Blair
in her NAIL-ART BLOG . I am a huge fan, every time i look at her designs i want to start making acrylic nails too.
So i hope you ll like our couples costume, and i apologize if hairy toes make you puke. Happy Halloween!

La Femme Beauty - Burst

La Femme Beauty - Burst is voorlopig even de laatste roze!

La Femme Beauty - Burst is for now the last pink polish i'm going to swatch! The month is almost over, so next month I'm going to variate more with colours!

La Femme Beauty - Burst is a bright pink polish with purple-ish shimmer. I expected a really sheer polish (There wasn't any polish on my nails after one layer!) but after 3 coats I've got this result, so it's surprising! Ofcourse i've got some vnl with this polish, but not as worse as I expected! I think it's opaque in 4 coats!

This pic is made outside in shade, here you can't see the shimmer, but you can see a purple-ish reflection! Application was a bit watery, after 3 coats i've got this result, maybe I had to put on a fourth coat. Further I don't think this is a special pink polish, you can find these kind of colours on more brands.

Thanks for stopping by!

POSITIVE THINKING :)

I have enjoyed doing Halloween nails sooooo much! I want to keep doing them for a couple more months. It is such a great time of year for festive nails :) I am sooooo excited to do some super cute fun fabulous nails for Christmas and some beautiful elegant stuff for winter and some blingtastic ones for New Years. It is a fabulous time of year for nails. Fun nails definitely cheer me up :)

China Glaze - Strawberry Fields

China Glaze - Strawberry Fields is one of my favorite China Glaze polishes! I love the combination bright pink with golden shimmer! ( Too bad my camera think something else). But with lots of pic's, I hope i've got some reasonable pictures from this polish!

This pic is made outside in sunlight, when you enlarge the pic (just click on it) you can see the golden shimmer, you can see the golden shimmer in the bottle too!

This pic is made outside with flash, because of the flash you can see the golden shimmer better. Application is very good, I love China Glaze polishes. The only thing is that this one needs 3 coats for full coverage, so it's not really opaque, but after 3 coats it turns out beautiful!

And the last pic... I made a nailart with this polish a while ago (ehh a very long time ago ;)) so i'm going to search that pic now!

This is the old nailart, I used Strawberry Fields as a french manicure, and made some kind of chains by hand. (Don't mind the unequal nails, this pic is very old!)

Notd: French Manicure with Konad

Enjoy!

After all the swatches, I've got another Notd for you with nailart. A very simple design which looks fin! Enjoy!

I started with a pink underbase (the pink french manicure polish from the Suhada set). Then I made a quick french manicure with M nailpolish - nr 110. The french isn't very good, it's not very neat, but I hadn't the time to do it, so I quickly done it by hand. So i'm sorry for the ugly french!

Application was fine, I used two coats for the french manicure. I think this is a duochrome polish (don't know it for sure) but the polish changes colour in the light. Most of the time it turns a bit blue. The smell of this polish is just like nr 100 terrible too!

This is the nailart I made on it. I sponged the tips with a white polish from la Femme Beauty - White. And then I took Konad plate m3 for stamping. Just an easy good looking manicure for today!

Thanks for stopping by!

---------------------------------------------
My opinion on these colors

Vanity would have to be my favorite...very bold and rich in color..pops amazingly on the eyelids!!

Jerrica would be my second favorite..it just oozes with sparkles!! a very beautiful yellow!

Romper is very shimmery and applies very nicely as do Vanity and Jerrica.if you like purple you would be crazy not to add Romper to your collection!

And lastly Berrywood....a very pretty color, pink though is not really my color but if you like pink im sure you would be very happy with it...i do however LOVE it as an acrylic for nails!...and i can say the same for all 4 colors..they all make amazing colors for Acrylics!!

I wasnt disappoint with any of these colors...all apply smoothly, the colors really do stand out and you dont have to use much product to get the color pay off you want. They blended wonderfully into one another and stayed on my lid very nicely and didnt crease on me! The colors where still vibrant on my lids after a few hours.Value wise i think it is a great price..10g as opposed to 5g for only $9...very good deal!!

Here is a makeup look i did wearing all 4 colors

And here is another photo of all the 4 shadows made into acrylic's
